Open data provides an opportunity for shared situational awareness when disasters occur. The Community Epidemic and Pandemic Preparedness Program (CP3) implements data readiness with multiple National Societies to advocate for open data using a “data grid” as a reference for datasets that enable better disaster management programming. In this session we will:
1) provide an overview of the data grid
2) solicit input on datasets that your organization actively uses in preparedness and response contexts to learn and improve future use of the data grid.
The emphasis is on data to acquire before a disaster happens with a particular focus on geographic data.
For:
Audience 1 – Data focal points in a National Society that receive requests to produce visualizations or maps for response operations;
Audience 2 – Program managers, operational leaders, team leads, etc., with experience planning an emergency response operation that can articulate data and information needs;
Audience 3 – Health specialists, particularly around public health in emergencies, and health IM specialists.
