What does art and beauty have to do with quantitative information? In this intensely interactive session we will explore the role of art-enabled experiences to help connect knowledge with action. Using examples from climate risk management, we will see how the Red Cross and Red Crescent has improved its work with communities, governments, experts, and other key stakeholders, turning data into practical results through aesthetic experiences. We will share examples from various sessions offered by the Climate Centre around the world, from rural villages to the UN Climate Conference – in partnership data scientists working with talented collaborators as diverse as sculptors, hip-hop musicians, satellite artists, and chefs.

The goal: help you harness the power of beauty to inspire learning and dialogue. The main session will take 60 minutes. An additional, optional 30 minutes will be available for small-group discussion and brainstorming about applying the concepts from the main session to concrete next steps.

For: Colleagues working on risk management, health, disasters, mapping, participatory processes, community-level work, communication
