The objective of this session is to demonstrate what the Anticipation Hub has learned about data for anticipatory action and identify how it can best act as a vehicle to support National Society staff and volunteers, especially young people to implement and innovate on data for anticipatory action.
We will do this by demonstrating to National Societies’ technical staff and volunteers how to utilise the knowledge resources, data and tools available through the Hub to enhance their data readiness for implementing anticipatory action now or in the future. For example, the early action database and database of learning resources.
The session will also provide the opportunity for participants to learn about the data and tools that the Anticipation Hub and its partners are advocating and researching to enable better anticipatory action. Different use-cases will be explored to identify opportunities for OpenStreetMap, Earth Observation and crowdsourced data to enable anticipatory action and feedback sought from participants on how youth can drive innovation in this space given their heightened ability to utilise the latest technology and communication tools for impact.
The session will use interactive methods to stimulate conversations between participants and leading experts to better understand how the next generation of young professionals and volunteers in the disaster risk reduction and data space can innovate and co-create to enhance their data skills to enable more and better anticipatory action.
The participants will leave feeling energized and motivated to utilise the Anticipation Hub as a vehicle to support their data readiness for anticipatory action. While the partners of the Anticipation Hub will capture new ideas from the participants, especially youth, to help steer the growth and development of research and advocacy efforts on anticipatory action through the Hub and its partners.
